If you love exploring a new city when traveling but are also crave lazy summer days at the beach, do not stress! We have created a list of our five favorite beach cities that combine the best of both worlds!
We may be a little biased 😉 but Barcelona is one of our favorite beach cities. After loading up on tapas and exploring some of Gaudi’s masterpieces, spend a day unwinding at the beach. Take a dip in the Mediterranean or watch a sunset from a “chiringuito” while enjoying in your favorite drink.
After a weekend of partying in Miami head to the beach to unwind. Here you can test out your jet skiing skills or go snorkeling and explore the colorful marine life. Afterwards be sure to check out some museums and cuisine to experience the Cuban-American culture.
Rio de Janeiro
While Rio de Janeiro is currently busy preparing for the Olympics, it it usually a haven for adventurers and beach lovers. Enjoy Rio’s beach with a beautiful view of Sugarloaf mountain while sipping on sipping on some frozen açaí.
After a day of exploring, head to Bondi beach, one of Sydney’s most popular beaches. If you want to explore more of the coast, join in on a Bondi to Coogee walk and you will be sure to find great sights and activities along the way.
What’s better than one ocean? Two! In Cape Town you can choose between the Atlantic Ocean and Indian Ocean on either side of the peninsula. The waters on the Atlantic Ocean side are a little colder than those of the Indian Ocean, but that’s a small price to pay for the beautiful sunsets on this side. Head to the Indian Ocean side if you are looking for more laid back beaches that are more commonly frequented by locals.
Need help planning a trip to any of these cities? Well you are in luck, we have local heroes in each of these cities who will create a perfect itinerary for you to split your time between exploring the city and hitting the beach.
